San Francisco artist, Sara Jennison, has been creating art ever since her fine motor skills kicked in and she could hold a crayon. As an adult, she switched to a paintbrush, becoming enamored with watercolors and the charm they could bring to her work. A few years later, Sara jumped in to acrylics, and was fascinated by the bold expression they offered. Through her work, she pulls the viewer in for a closer look, through familiarity of subjects, but also with curiosity of color, scale and balance.

After receiving her BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Sara began working as a graphic artist and art director with Bay Area advertising agencies. It was during the later stages of her career she decided to take up painting.

Sara has worked at Mark Drive Studios in San Rafael, CA, as a member artist at the historic nonprofit arts organization, San Francisco Women Artists gallery and as a resident artist at Big Umbrella Studios in San Francisco.

Sara has served as a docent at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where she volunteered for over 15 years. During her time with SFMOMA, she was elected to the Museum’s Docent Council, held the role of Docent Team Leader and instructed hundreds of San Francisco Bay Area school students each year through the museum’s Art Express outreach program.

Recently elected as a board member with Friends of Sharon Art Studio, Sara continues her passion for art education by serving San Francisco's largest public art studio, Sharon Art Studio, located in Golden Gate Park.
